3-channel Laser System
With the intensive technological progress, the atmospheric monitoring has become one of the most important
issues for the absolute majority of states in their environment protection activity.
The acquisition of on-line information about the state of the atmospheric layer is an integral part of both
global and regional atmospheric monitoring.
LIDAR systems using laser radiation sources are often integrated into the systems of atmospheric monitoring.
The given three-laser system (two Ti:Sapphire lasers and one Nd:YAG laser) is designed for application in a
mobile distant atmosphere monitoring complex as a radiation source.
To determine chlorine, nitrogen dioxide or ozone in the atmosphere the differential method for detection
of the second and third harmonics of Ti:Sapphire lasers on the set wavelengths in the first and the second
channels of laser system is used.
Radiation of the second harmonic of Nd:YAG laser in the third channel is used for probing of aerosol formations,
and the third harmonic radiation is used as an auxiliary one at chlorine detection.
Two Ti:Sapphire lasers being tuned for the selected ranges of wavelengths generation and the generator
of the 3rd harmonic of Nd:YAG laser are pumped by the subsequent switching (for three channels)
with a rotary galvanic-drive mirror of each radiation pulse generated by Nd:YAG laser. The design of
Nd:YAG laser supports the opportunity of automated tuning the parameters of the input radiation for
the maximal conversion in the 3rd harmonic (355 nm) or for the most effective pumping of Ti:Sapphire lasers.
Radiation beams are converged parallel and transmitted to the telescope-expander.
